When do I sign up for Recreational Soccer?
Sign ups are from March 1st to July 1st. Recreational
Registration Forms can be downloaded at this website. Your child
will also bring a registration form home in his/her school packet,
or you can pick one up at any Carlsbad parks and rec center. Please
see the REGISTRATION
page for information about cost and late fees.
Can I coach a team?
Yes! Coaches begin meeting in February.
Email info@carlsbadsoccer.org
if you would like to coach a rec team, or indicate interest by marking
the “COACH” box on the volunteer portion of your child’s
registration form.
When do I find out what team my child is on?
Teams are drafted mid July. You will get a call from your coach
the by August 15th.
When does the season start?
Practices begin in middle to end of August, on northern Carlsbad
fields. Please contact the league if you are not contacted by your
player’s coach by August 15. The first games are scheduled
for late August or early Sept. Game schedules do not come
out until late August.

What days do they practice?
It depends on what your volunteer coach decides is the best day(s)
for practice. Usually one to two days a week depending on the age
of the team.
When and Where are games played?
All recreational soccer games are played on Saturdays.
U6 teams play at Calavera Park, U8 Hope Elem. School, U10 Magnolia,
U12 Buena Vista Elem. School, U14 Buena Vista Elem. School, U16
Pine Field or Buena Vista Elem..
When does the season end?
Last day of recreational games will be mid November.
What is included in the registration fee?
Your registration fee pays for a uniform, professional
field marking, administration fees, and referee fees (U12 and up).
Trophies are not included and must be ordered by your team manager
by the end of the season.
Do you have an ALL STAR PROGRAM?
YES! All Stars for ages U10 and up are chosen in November
and play in a tournament in December.
What if my child is not assigned to a team because of late
registration?
Refunds, in full, are given if your child is not assigned to a team.
Refunds, less a $25 fee, are given if Carlsbad Wave Soccer is notified,
in writing, by August 31, 2007 of the withdrawal. All mail is sent
3rd class. 3rd class mail is not forwarded. Therefore, please notify
us of all address changes via phone 760-434-5600 or email info@carlsbadsoccer.org
Are there different programs for different ages?
The age matrix is as follows:
Under 6: 4, 5 year olds (as of July 31, 2008) play
micro soccer, 3v3 with no goalie. They use a Size 3 soccer ball.
Under 8: 6 & 7 year olds (as of July 31, 2008)
play 6v6 with a goalie. Size 4 soccer ball.
Under 10: 8 & 9 year olds (as of July 31,
2008) play 8v8 with a goalie. Size 4 soccer ball.
Under 12: 10 & 11 year olds (as of July 31,
2008) play 11v11 with a goalie. Size 4 soccer ball.
Under 14: 12 & 13 (as of July 31, 2008) play
11v11 with a goalie. Size 5 soccer ball.
Carlsbad Wave is not co-ed. Teams are comprised of boys teams and
girls teams.
What if my child wants to play a longer season and get
more training?
Carlsbad Wave offers camps, clinics and a complete Competitive Soccer
Program.
